ID = Horses holding a GCDHA Identification Certificate

Youth – All non-professionals who were under the age of 18 as of Jan. 1, 2010

Amateur – Adult (18 years or older on or before Jan. 1, 2010) who does not receive payment or compensation for training, showing or riding any horse or for giving lessons to any rider/handler.

Novice Rider – Those riders who lack the experience or confidence of more seasoned riders. Novice riders may not show in any canter classes

Green Horse – Horses who are not advanced enough in their training to have ever shown in a canter class - May not enter any canter class

Green Driving Horses are those who have not shown in more than 3 driving classes, prior.

Bred by – All horses to be considered “bred by,” owner or lessee of mare at the time of conception

Broodmares – Mares who have delivered at least 2 foals or delivered 1 foal and is currently in-foal

Gypsy in-hand – Best Traditional Movement – Judged 30% on type, 20% on presentation and 50% on traditional movement, as preferred by the Gypsy founders of the breed

Jog in the Park (ridden) – Inspired by a time when the place to be seen and to “flash” your good horse or elaborate attire was in the park.  Horse and rider should give the impression of being elaborately turned out in one’s best dress attire for the purpose of making an impression.  It’s All About The Flash!  Tack and Attire may be from any period or region and need not be authentic but should be reminiscent of a time when success was measured by the flash of a horse’s step and the elegance of the rider.

Trot in the Park (driven) – Same as Jog in the Park but driven rather than ridden

Ride and Run - Horses and Riders to line up along one end of arena, race to far side of arena, dismount and run back to start, while leading your horse

Musical Freestyle – Rider/Driver provides CD with music and performs a choreographed routine, matched to music. Costumes/Themes are encouraged and performances will be judged upon the quality and difficulty of the movements, musicality, originality and overall impression. Audience is encouraged to let the judge know their favorites!

Egg and Spoon Race – Riders are each given a spoon and a hard-boiled egg. The egg must rest in the spoon, without being touched by rider’s hand/fingers/thumb.  Riders will line up and race 1 time around the arena.  Riders are disqualified as eggs fall out of spoon. First one to make it to the finish line with their egg in the spoon and without having touched the egg, wins.

Dash and Splash - Riders must fill a champagne glass with water, carry it to a designated container, pour the water into the container and repeat until their containers are full.  First to fill their container, wins.

Parade Horse - Highly animated walk and slow to medium trot.  Inspired by the silver saddles and glitzy costumes of the parade horses of the '50s, '60s and '70s.  Judged on horse's controlled but animated performance, rider's costume and parade type saddle and tack. Innovative and imaginative designs encouraged.

All Gypsy Cobs/Vanners/Horses must be registered in one of the North American registries

All Drum Horses must be GCDHA registered

All Part-breds to be registered with GCDHA or GHRA
